Dumpster rental in Greensboro: mostly easy, sometimes not
A dumpster rental in Greensboro is usually easy to place. The city is spread out, built mostly in the 20th century, and most houses have driveways that take a 10 or 20 yard container. Lindley Park, Starmount, Sedgefield, Hamilton Lakes and the northwest suburbs all fit that pattern.
The exceptions are worth knowing. Fisher Park and Irving Park have large, older homes with long tree-lined drives; there is room, but low limbs and old concrete call for care. College Hill and the streets around UNCG and NC A&T are packed with rentals and parked cars, and the lots are small. And downtown, around Elm Street and the ballpark, there is little private space at all.
The landlord season
Greensboro's student and investor rentals turn over on a schedule. Late spring and summer bring a run of move-out cleanouts: furniture, mattresses, carpet. Landlords often book a small container for the gap between leases. If you are a tenant, get the owner's permission first, and ask the hauler about mattresses, which often carry extra charges.
Street placement
If the street is your only option, the Greensboro Department of Transportation handles right-of-way use inside the city. Ask before booking; we do not publish fees or deadlines, which change. Remember that High Point, Jamestown, Summerfield and Oak Ridge are separate towns, and that NCDOT maintains the state roads through Guilford County.
The Triad's industry
Greensboro's history in textiles and furniture left a stock of old mills and warehouses, many now being converted. Those jobs produce heavy debris and usually have room for a 30 or 40 yard container on the lot. The building owner decides placement.
