Dumpster rental in Memphis: easy ground, old houses
A dumpster rental in Memphis is usually simple to place. The city sits on flat ground above the Mississippi River, and most of it was built in the automobile age: wide streets, long driveways, ranch houses in Whitehaven, Raleigh, Cordova and East Memphis. A 20 yard container on the drive is the norm.
Midtown is the exception. Cooper-Young, Central Gardens, Evergreen and the streets around Overton Park have early 20th-century homes, many of them large, on lots with narrow side drives and huge trees. Some have a rear parking pad or garage that works better than the front. Look up for limbs and lines; the truck tilts its bed high to set the container down.
What Memphis projects look like
Renovation of older Midtown and East Memphis homes. Estate cleanouts in neighborhoods where long-time owners are moving on. Rehab of vacant and long-empty properties, which can mean a lot of mixed debris. Commercial and warehouse cleanups, because Memphis is a major distribution hub, and those sites have room for 30 and 40 yard containers.
Who to ask about the street
Inside city limits, the City of Memphis handles public streets. Shelby County has several separate cities, Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Lakeland and Arlington, each with its own rules, and many of their neighborhoods have HOAs. We do not publish fees or timelines.
Weather
Memphis summers are long and humid, and thunderstorms roll through often. Tarp loads that soak up water. In winter, ice storms occasionally shut the city down for a few days, which can push back pickups.
